Jaco Beach
Jacó (Pronounced in English as Ha-co) and is know by locals as "The city of surf")is a coastal city in Costa Rica's Puntarenas province, located in the Central Pacific Region,
on the shores of the Pacific Ocean. Jacó is approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes from San José and one hour North of Manuel Antonio National Park. As a result of its location as one of the closest beaches to
the Central Valley and its location in relation to Manuel Antonio, Jaco has become a very popular tourist destination for not only native Costa Ricans but also foreign travellers. It lies between several mountains,
and encompasses the beaches of Herradura, Jacó and Hermosa. At about 15 miles north of Jacó, lies the popular Carara National Park, recognized for it´s scarlet macaws, toucans and white faced monkeys. Jacó is a city booming with tourism,
and hosts several restaurants, shops, nightclubs, discos, and all-inclusive hotels, as well as several expensive condominiums and houses. Surfing draws many people to the beaches, which are known for their consistent 3 to 4 meter surf.
